Privacy Policy — Pinterest no ads and promo

This policy describes how the Chrome extension Pinterest no ads and promo (“the Extension”) handles information.

1. What the Extension does
The Extension lets you hide ads and promotional units on pinterest.com by routing only traffic to pinterest.com and pinimg.com through our EU HTTP proxy. All other websites stay direct (not proxied).
No account or payment is required in the current open-access version.
2. Data we collect

This data is not sent to our servers or to analytics vendors. It stays in your browser. Uninstalling the Extension deletes it.
Not collected in this version
We do not collect:
- name, email, or password
- Pinterest account contents, pins, or search history
- browsing history outside Pinterest
- payment data
- advertising identifiers
Login and subscription code may exist in the product for a later paid version. It is disabled in the current store build. If that changes, this policy will be updated before those features go live.
3. What the proxy can see
When ad-free mode is on, HTTPS requests to pinterest.com and pinimg.com go through a proxy on our EU VPS (Netherlands).
Because the connection is HTTPS, we cannot read page content, pins, cookies, or form data. The proxy can see technical metadata needed to operate it:
- your IP address
- destination host (
pinterest.com/pinimg.com) - timestamps and approximate traffic volume
We do not log request URLs, cookies, or response bodies. We do not sell traffic data. Proxy access is used only to fetch Pinterest without regional ads/promo.
When ad-free mode is off, no Pinterest traffic goes through our proxy.
4. Third parties
- Pinterest — you use their site under Pinterest’s privacy policy. We are not affiliated with Pinterest.
- Hosting — API and proxy run on a VPS in the EU. TLS for
*.nip.iohostnames is issued via Let’s Encrypt. - Google / Chrome — Chrome Web Store and the browser process the Extension under Google’s policies.
We do not use Google Analytics, ads SDKs, or other trackers in the Extension.

6. Retention and deletion
Device data lasts until you turn the Extension off, clear site data, or uninstall it.
To delete everything the Extension stored:
- Remove the Extension in
chrome://extensions - Optionally clear Pinterest site data in Chrome settings (removes the on-page toggle flag)

7. GDPR (EU / EEA)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you may request access, correction, or erasure of personal data we hold (for example your IP as seen by the proxy), and you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a user-requested proxy, and consent when you turn ad-free mode on.
8. Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We will update this page and the “Effective date” if data practices change. Material changes will also be noted in the Chrome Web Store listing.
